It's all in the house

... the luggage, that is. But it's too late and I'm too tired to start setting it all back up - that will have to wait until tomorrow. As long as the server and disk drives survived the trip, it will all surely be back up within 24 hours. My dad has graciously allowed me to keep his ADSL modem and router until my own stuff arrives by ship in a week or two, so Internet access should be reasonably good. More tomorrow...

2 down, 2 to go

Only 2 of my 4 items arrived last night. No server yet, but at least I can finally wear clean clothes. All my toiletries are still missing, along with the server, but we got word this morning that they have located the final 3 items so hopefully by tonight Helena will have some clothes also and I'll be able to install the server here.

One final hurdle is ADSL hardware. The ADSL modem/router in the house is less than stable, so for now I'm borrowing my dad's equipment. Our shipment should arrive late next week, along with my ADSL modem and D-Link router.

So hang in there, things will get back to normal soon. :-)

Got here, but...

... absolutely no luggage made it - all the pieces got stuck in Amsterdam. Hopefully they will arrive tomorrow evening, the server being one of them. Another thing is the ADSL router in the house - the admin/password there doesn't seem to work. Lars and Marianne (whose Internet connection I'm using right now) are lending me a D-Link wireless router until mine arrives with the rest of the stuff in a couple of weeks when the container reaches the port. I'll buy some cables tomorrow so I can hook up the computer directly to the ADSL router and thus hopefully get access and then be able to hook up the server. Crossing my fingers - I'll find out if the server made it (and the harddrives in my carry-on) tomorrow...

On the road again...

The server was taken down last night. It has been sitting in Juni's house (with me) since early July. In a few hours I'll be driving to San Diego, and will fly out of there to Minneapolis, Amsterdam and finally Oslo along with the server and Liv Annika and Helena. With a little luck, the ADSL line in our new home in Oslo will be active so that the server can be back up by Monday night after my arrival there. The disk drives are going in my carry-on, and hopefully the rest of the hardware will survive the ordeal also. Crossing my fingers....
